AMR BIN JUNADA-E-ANSARI

****************************

Amr was a young boy who was martyred in Kerbala. His father was also martyred in Kerbala. When he seeked the permission to fight, Imam Hussain (A.S) said,'His father has been killed, perhaps his mother would not be happy to let him go'. Amr replied,'My mother has ordered me to go to the battlefield and has worn me this armour'. He was only 9 or 11 years of age. He went to the battlefield, fought and got martyred. His head was thrown towards the army of Imam Hussain (A.S). His mother Behria bint Mas'ood Khizriji took his head and praised him. She then killed someone with that head and then took a piece of wood and went to fight but Imam (A.S) stopped her from doing that and returned her back. The name of Amr bin Junada appears in 'Ziarat-e-Nahya-e-Muqaddisa'. In some books, he has been named as Umar bin Junada.
